31st ANNUAL HERB FESTIVAL ON CAPE COD

The Green Briar Nature Center, 6 Discovery Hill Road, East Sandwich holds its 31st Annual Herb Festival on May 18, 19 and 20 from 10am to 4pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The three day festival features an extensive plant sale of Proven Winners Edible Collection herbs and veggies, new 2012 specialty annuals, tropicals and succulents.

Enjoy free lecture programs, guided wildflower garden walks and special exhibits. On Friday a delightful luncheon accented with herbs is served by gracious volunteers.  Seatings are at 11:30am and 12:45pm, and reservations are required at $15 for members of the Thornton W. Burgess Society, $17 for non-members.

The festival offers the following programs free to all:

  • On Saturday at 1:30pm Chris Kolb of Ark Gardens presents “Native Treasures: Creating an Authentic Cape Cod Perennial Garden.”

  • On Sunday at 10:30am come for “Container Gardening” and at 2:30pm the whole family will enjoy “A Kitchen Garden Talk.”

  • Also on Saturday and Sunday, soil testing on soil samples taken from your home garden will be done by Earle Fucillo of The Compost Guys.

Green Briar’s unique gift shop contains a variety of herb-related items and books as well as its own jams, jellies and preserves made here in the historic Jam Kitchen.

All proceeds from the Herb Festival help to support the environmental education programs of the Thornton W. Burgess Society and its Green Briar Nature Center.
